new apartments always smell like paint

[identity profile] evan-laurier.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)
If you're lucky. Otherwise they smell of mold.

[identity profile] psychette10.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, Henry Spencer helped me pick out a good one. Hopefully it won't look as empty once I get everything set up.

[identity profile] evan-laurier.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
You got a lot of stuff to move in?

[identity profile] psychette10.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
Well not anymore. It's all in, just not out of the boxes yet...

*looks at the bookshelf that's still in pieces in the corner*

I'll have some time to mess with unpacking after I'm done with work today.

[identity profile] psychette10.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
You any good with stuff that's some assembly required? I had to take that shelf apart to get it here but I misplaced the paper that showed how to put it back together.

[identity profile] evan-laurier.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 01:50 pm (UTC)(link)
No problem - I'm good with my hands.

[identity profile] psychette10.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool! Thanks a lot. :)

*hunts around before pulling a small toolkit from a box behind the futon sofa*

Here you go. I have to go to work soon, can I grab you something from the smoothie counter as payment? I hear they have cookies if you're not a fruit drink person.

[identity profile] evan-laurier.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
*takes the tool kit with a raised eyebrow and an amused smile*

A drink would go down fine. Do they do the one with banana and peanut butter in?

*juggles with the toolkit so he can put out his hand*

I'm Evan, nice to meet you, miss...?

[identity profile] psychette10.livejournal.com 2008-12-17 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
*shakes his hand with a smile*

Hayes, Jackie Hayes. Just call me Jackie.
You live around here?

[identity profile] evan-laurier.livejournal.com 2008-12-18 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
*gives her a warm smile*

Yeah, my place is pretty close by. I moved here in the summer from Chicago.

[identity profile] psychette10.livejournal.com 2008-12-19 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Cool, I spent some time in Ohare airport with my old job as an airline stewardess, but I hear the rest of Chicago is nice.

[identity profile] evan-laurier.livejournal.com 2008-12-20 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't see the airport... Chicago's okay, a bit on the grey side. I think I'll like it here better, the view is already much nicer from where I'm standing *smiles at her*

Air stewardess, huh? Did you get to go anywhere exotic?

[identity profile] psychette10.livejournal.com 2008-12-22 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
If you consider Colorado exotic...

How's that shelf coming?

[identity profile] dial-a-psychic.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Depends on the apartment. A friend of mine had this really cheap apartment that smelled like feet.

[identity profile] psychette10.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
All the new apartments I ever got smelled like paint because they painted over whatever the previous owner might have done to the walls.

At least I have a view of the ocean...that is if I stand up to look out of the window.

[identity profile] dial-a-psychic.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Either you are really small or you have a very crappy wall interfering with your view.

[identity profile] psychette10.livejournal.com 2008-12-17 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
More like a couple of buildings and some trees inbetween me and the ocean wayyyyy off in the distance.

[identity profile] literary-james.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Is it weird if I say that I like the smell?

[identity profile] psychette10.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
...possibly.

I personally like the smell of a Dairy Queen hotdog with chili on it *mouth watering*

[identity profile] literary-james.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
A Dairy Queen hotdog. I've never had Dairy Queen. Actually .. I don't know if there were any in New York. And I haven't really gone looking to see if they're in LA.

[identity profile] literary-james.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[Laughs] Ah, well .. See, they're all upstate New York. Albany, Oneonta, Canton ... I was nowhere close to any of those places.

But maybe when I'm back in LA I'll have to go to one.

[identity profile] psychette10.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed, they are well worth it. Icecream and chili dogs, delicious...

[identity profile] literary-james.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm. Chili dogs sound amazing right now.
