A-maze-ing! It was worth everything, including the hour drive to a friends house to pick them up to go see it.

I even loved the trailers before the movie. Really really wanna see G.I. Joe and the next Transformers movies, those are gonna be fantastic on the big screen. And Christopher Eccleson as Cobra? Brilliant idea.

Loved how they never gave George Kirk's first name till later, sort of as keeping the "audience" guessing as to if he really was James Kirk. Though anyone who'd seen pictures would know differently, still it was clever.

Vulcan school fights are not surprisingly very elaborate compared to humans. Spock sure knows how to pin an opponent.

Other things I enjoyed immensely:
- Kirk hitting on every girl that walked by
- The almost tongue in cheek humor that ran through the whole movie, it was perfect. It's like if you're gonna be a Trekkie, you have to be a little ridiculous sometimes. This includes getting stabbed in the neck repeatedly while trying to save your ship. :D
- Vulcan nerve pinch, so glad there was at least one.
- The ship....beautiful. I wanted to cry when they showed it for the first time. And then they go off and break it right away, just cruel and mean, those writers. :)
- You know there has to be some sort of fanboy person writing this movie when the solution to the problem is, "Kirk, you have to get Spock mad. It's the only solution."
- Chekhov = adorable and still my favorite
- Sulu just plain wins for even having that sword, much less knowing how to use it
- "So her name's Nyota?" "I have no comment for that situation." *snickering very loudly in the theater*
- Thought I wasn't going to like McCoy because he looked a bit too rough...I was wrong, he was just himself really. Voice, cadence, stance, and all. And I'm sure he softens over time to actually smile :)
- Who called the redshirt death? Oh yeah, that was me. :) But it was a spectacular death nonetheless, he should be proud of it.
- Admiral Pike in a wheelchair = priceless foreshadowing.

Changes to things:
Warp speed was interesting...a good interesting in my opinion. It was a bit Star Wars, but I'm not complaining.
Inside ship - lovely, I liked it alot. There was so much stuff to look at I'm sure I'll find more things to see when I see it a second time. And engineering looked like a proper engineering too. Not just a room with stuff on the sides.
Phasers - Ok, funny story. I bought one of those phaser toys from Target and it has this part that flips around so you can switch from stun to kill. And I'm like "That's a bit goofy, even for a kids toy, why didn't they make them like they did in the movie anyway?"
....it does flip around...in the movie...I was mortified and my brother was laughing at me. And when I try to defend that it's dumb and ridiculous to build a weapon like that, he goes and asks how would you tell stun apart from kill then without it....and I had no answer. Grrrr...confound him poking holes in my otherwise sound argument! I declare he's turning into Spock...

...uh oh, that makes me Dr. McCoy *headdesk*

Anyhoo, final consensus from me, it could not have been any better. This Trekkie was completely thrilled at the whole thing. :D
