Indeed. I've been watching old series episodes...and it still fits the movie, even down to the nuances between Uhura and Spock which I never noticed before.

Best line was Scotty's: "*awkward pause*....I like this ship!"

Yeah, they played those up. But I guess, you know, they wanted a romance angle. I didn't mind it though.
